Arrival and Preparation
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will warmly welcome you and provide a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Arusha town. This is your chance to settle in and relax. Your knowledgeable guide will meet you, offering a comprehensive briefing about your upcoming trek. Together, you’ll conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the essential gear for the mountain climb. Any missing items can be conveniently rented on this day, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure that lies ahead.
Arusha – Miriakamba Hut
Duration: 5-7 hours of exhilarating hiking
Commence your adventure with an early morning breakfast in Moshi or Arusha (1400m). A prompt pickup from your hotel will take you to the Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Here, porters will efficiently organize and pack your belongings while you and your guide complete the necessary registration with the Tanzania National Park (TANAPA).
Embark on your ascent in Arusha National Park, and on this first day, experience a hiking journey reminiscent of a captivating walking safari. Anticipate encounters with giraffes, zebras, antelope, buffalo, and possibly elephants along the trail. For your safety and to enhance wildlife experiences, an armed ranger, facilitated by the National Park, will accompany our team throughout the hike.
As you traverse the terrain, you’ll pass by the scenic Ngarenanyuki River and witness a captivating waterfall at the base of Mt. Meru. Upon reaching Miriakamba Hut (2500m), your skilled chef will prepare a hearty dinner, and washing water will be provided. Relish the stunning sunset and settle in for an overnight stay, immersed in the tranquility of your mountain surroundings.
Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
Duration: 3-5 hours of invigorating hiking
Begin your day with a nourishing breakfast before embarking on an ascent up the steep trail along the ridge of the saddle. This stretch offers a chance to spot various wildlife, adding a touch of excitement to your hike. The trail presents panoramic views of Mt. Meru Crater and the Ash Tray, enhancing the scenic journey.
Upon reaching the Saddle Hut, you’ll have the option to further acclimate by hiking Little Mt. Meru (3820m) alongside your guide. This additional trek provides an opportunity to adjust to the altitude and take in breathtaking vistas.
An early dinner will be served at the camp to ensure you receive ample rest before your midnight summit attempt. Aim to retire by 19:00, allowing for crucial rest as you prepare for the challenging summit ahead.
Saddle Hut – Summit Attempt – Miriakamba Hut
Duration: 10-12 hours of challenging hiking
Prepare for an early and exciting start as your guide awakens you at 00:30 with a serving of tea and biscuits. Commence your summit attempt at 1:30 am, navigating a trail that initially ascends on a steep grade, leading you to Rhino Point (3800m) and then to Cobra Point (4350m). The final leg of the hike involves scrambling along a rocky ridge nestled between the crater and inner cliffs of Mt. Meru.
As you approach the summit of Mt. Meru (4565m), the grand spectacle of sunrise unfolds, revealing breathtaking views of Mt. Meru Ash Tray and the towering silhouette of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Take a moment to savor the awe-inspiring panorama before embarking on your descent to Saddle Hut for a well-deserved short break.
Continue your descent to Miriakamba Hut (2500m), where a hearty dinner awaits, offering replenishment after a challenging day. Relish the satisfaction of your summit achievement as you settle in for a well-deserved overnight stay.
Miriakamba Hut – Arusha
Duration: 2-3 hours of leisurely hiking
Following a rejuvenating rest and a satisfying breakfast, embark on the final leg of your journey with a descent to the Momella Gate. Traverse through lush forests and scenic meadows, providing ample opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. The descent offers a chance to reflect on the incredible experiences of the climb.
Upon reaching the base of Mt. Meru, our dedicated driver will warmly welcome you. Relax and enjoy a comfortable transfer back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, reminiscing about the remarkable moments and achievements of your Mount Meru expedition.
Arusha - Lake Manyara
Commence your day with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, embarking on a scenic drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy a thrilling game drive in the park, immersing yourself in the diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.
Witness the majesty of elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelope, hippos, and the captivating sight of flamingos in the hippo pool, among other remarkable animals. While climbing lions are a rare sighting in Lake Manyara, keep a keen eye out for these elusive creatures during your exploration.

Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater
Embark on an exciting day starting with breakfast around 8 am, followed by a departure for Ngorongoro Crater. Prepare for a full day of exhilarating game viewing, complemented by a delightful picnic lunch within the crater’s unique ecosystem.
Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its exceptional concentration of wildlife, offering encounters with buffalo, lions, zebras, elephants, hippos, leopards, rhinos, and numerous other species. Take in the breathtaking landscapes and diverse habitats as you explore this natural wonder.
Around 5 pm, drive to your accommodation where you will enjoy a hearty dinner and settle in for a well-deserved overnight stay, reflecting on the remarkable wildlife experiences of the day.
Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire to Arusha
Commence your day with an early breakfast around 8 am, setting the stage for a journey to Tarangire, approximately an hour away. Tarangire, known for its expansive landscapes, offers the opportunity to witness a variety of wildlife, including lions, herds of elephants, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, and more. The park is also renowned for its iconic baobab trees, adding a unique touch to your safari experience.
A boxed lunch will be provided, allowing you to maximize your time immersed in the wonders of Tarangire. In the late afternoon, depart for Arusha, reflecting on the diverse and captivating wildlife encounters during your safari.
Departure Day: The final day is reserved for relaxation and winding down after the trek and safari before your flight back home.
