Day 1

Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park – Lake Eyasi

After a hearty breakfast, meet your safari driver guide to kick off your adventure. Begin your journey with a stop in Arusha town for any last-minute shopping. Following this, head towards Lake Manyara National Park, a stunning park nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley. Blessed with diverse habitats, swamps, and a lake, the park is home to a myriad of animal and bird species. Look out for unique features such as the tree-climbing lions and large baboon populations, as well as the impressive flocks of flamingos. Expect sightings of giraffes, zebras, elephants, wildebeests, hippos, buffalos, and predators like leopards, hyenas, and jackals. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise.

In the afternoon, depart for Lake Eyasi, a journey that takes you up and across the Great East African Rift Valley. The drive to Lake Eyasi takes approximately 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, engage in a cultural encounter with the Datoga tribe. They will guide you through their homes, allowing you to interact with them and gain insights into their way of life. Visit the blacksmith and later in the afternoon, take a sunset walk along the lakeshore before heading to the campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Inclusions:

  • All meals included (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
  • Overnight at Bushman Campsite, located close to the lake.
Day 2

Lake Eyasi – Serengeti National Park

Embark on a unique experience with an early morning hunting excursion with the Hadzabe, also known as the Bushmen. Engage in hunting with bows and arrows and receive tutelage on survival skills. The Bushmen at Lake Eyasi, comprising the Hadzabe, Tindiga, and Datoga clans, live a lifestyle reminiscent of the Stone Age, relying on hunting and gathering for sustenance. After the hunting experience, return to your campsite for a full breakfast.

Continue your 5-day Tanzania camping safari by heading to the vast Serengeti plains through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy the scenic drive along the high-lying farmland of Karatu, passing through the Ngorongoro gate. As you ascend and circle the Crater rim, take a brief stop at the viewpoint for picturesque photos. Visit one of the Masai villages for a cultural encounter, where Masai warriors will invite you into their homes, allowing you to meet their families, ask questions, and capture memorable moments. You may even join in their traditional songs and dances, including the renowned high jumping.

Descend into the heart of the “wild Africa,” entering Serengeti National Park with its endless rolling plains. Break for a picnic lunch at Naabi Hills Gate or at the Copjes (Rocky outcropping) en route to the Central Serengeti area known as Seronera. This region, enriched by the Seronera River, attracts a vast array of wildlife. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, searching for the big cats and, depending on your travel dates, witness the Great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration. In the late afternoon, before or during sunset, proceed to your campsite for a delightful dinner and overnight stay.

Inclusions:

  • All meals included (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
  • Overnight at Seronera Public Campsite in Central Serengeti.
Day 3

Full day Game drive in Serengeti

Embark on a thrilling full-day game drive in the vast Serengeti plains, commencing with an early morning expedition accompanied by packed breakfast and lunch boxes. The early hours present a unique opportunity to encounter cat families on the move, navigating the roads to avoid the morning mist. Witness the return of nocturnal predators from their night of hunting, and observe lionesses organizing morning ambushes or feasting along the road.

Break for breakfast in the bush, and if the Great Wildebeest Migration is currently in the Serengeti (as you’ll have been informed), set out early to be in the midst of the action. Spend ample time with the migrating herds, anticipating captivating animal behaviors such as fighting, hunting, feeding, and even potential kills. Predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and other wildlife, including herds of buffalo, elephants, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, and various antelope species, can be spotted across the Serengeti plains.

In the late afternoon, either during or before sunset, return to the campsite for a sumptuous dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.

Inclusions:

  • All meals included (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
  • Overnight at Seronera Public Campsite in Central Serengeti
Day 4

Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

As you bid farewell to the enchanting Serengeti, the day offers the option of another early morning game drive, allowing you to spend extended hours in the Serengeti, immersed in the beauty of its wildlife. Following this, enjoy an early hot lunch before commencing your journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Arrive at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in time to witness a breathtaking sunset at the crater rim, setting the stage for a serene evening. Delight in a delectable dinner and settle in for an overnight stay at Ngorongoro Simba Public Campsite located at the Crater rim.

Inclusions:

  • All meals included (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
  • Overnight at Ngorongoro Simba Public Campsite at the Crater rim
Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

On the final day of your 5 Days Tanzania camping safari, begin with an early breakfast before descending into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a captivating game drive. A picnic lunch will be served in the Crater floor. Given the natural barriers of the Crater’s 600-meter-high walls, it is a haven for a variety of wildlife. Expect to spot herds of African elephants, zebras, buffalos, warthogs, hippos, and the elusive black rhinos in their natural habitat.

The Crater is also home to a denser population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, sometimes requiring keen eyes and binoculars to spot. Visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow salt lake on the southwest corner of the Crater floor, often frequented by flocks of flamingos and other aquatic birds. Keep an eye out for hippos and other animals around the lake.

In the later afternoon, drive out of the Crater and head back to Arusha for drop-off at Kilimanjaro International Airport or for an optional overnight stay in Arusha. (Accommodation on this day can be included upon request at an extra cost).

This concludes your superb 5 Days Tanzania camping safari, showcasing the highlights of Northern Tanzania’s renowned parks.
