Your remarkable 5-day Tanzania camping safari begins with our warm welcome as we meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport. A comfortable transfer will take you to the cozy accommodations at Planet Lodge in Arusha. Later in the day, our experienced safari manager will conduct a comprehensive safari briefing, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventures ahead. Afterward, you have the rest of the day to unwind and enjoy the inviting facilities of the lodge, setting the stage for an exciting safari experience.
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Distance: 139 km
Non-Game Viewing Time: 2 to 3 hrs.
After a hearty breakfast, we will meet you at your lodge in Arusha for a brief safari orientation before embarking on a journey to Tarangire National Park. As you traverse through the heart of Arusha town, take advantage of the opportunity for any last-minute purchases before delving into the bush.
Tarangire National Park is renowned for its vast elephant population and the iconic giant Baobab trees that adorn its landscape. With over 3000 elephants recorded in the area, the park is a haven for these majestic creatures within the Tarangire-Lake Manyara ecosystem. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River, a lifeline that crosses the park, serving as a permanent water source.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the park’s landscape, home to rare animal species such as the Greater Kudu, Fringed Eared Oryx, and the Ash Stalling. Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that inhabits the park, including lions, leopards, hyenas, jackals, buffalo, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, and a variety of antelopes.
As the late afternoon approaches, drive to the Migombani Public Campsite or a similar site close to Lake Manyara for a serene sunset watch. Enjoy a delightful dinner and settle in for a restful overnight stay.

**Distance back to Arusha:** 120 km – 2 to 3 hrs.
After a wholesome breakfast at your campsite, set out for an exciting game drive in **Lake Manyara National Park**. This beautiful and evergreen park is fed by underground water streams flowing from the Great Rift Valley to the lake, creating a diverse range of habitats.
Lake Manyara’s varied landscapes, abundant water, and plentiful fodder attract a wide array of wildlife. Witness herds of African elephants, buffalo, zebra, impala, hippos, giraffes, and various antelopes. Keep a lookout for the famous tree-climbing lions and other predators that inhabit the park. The massive yet shallow soda lake is a spectacle, home to colorful flamingos and other aquatic birds feeding on algae and water creatures.
In the late afternoon, depending on your flight time, commence the drive back to Arusha via Mto wa Mbu town. You have the option of spending the night in Arusha or being dropped off at the airport. If time allows, you can also visit some Masai markets on your way back to Arusha.
