Day 01 Dar Es Salaam - Mikumi
Embark on your safari adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Dar es Salaam or the Airport on the first day. Drive along the Dar es Salaam – Morogoro highway en route to Mikumi National Park, situated between the captivating Uluguru Mountains of the Ancient Eastern Arc Mountains to the East and the Great Rift Valley Escarpments to the park’s Southwest. The approximately 4 to 4.5-hour transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi unfolds on a well-maintained tarmac road, bringing you to the park by noon.
Upon arrival, dive into an exhilarating game drive, complete with a packed lunch at a scenic picnic site. As the afternoon unfolds, we head to Camp Bastian for dinner and an overnight stay. Nestled just outside Mikumi National Park, Camp Bastian offers a delightful lodge experience with all the amenities one would expect in a luxury setting. The lodge boasts enchanting gardens and a refreshing swimming pool, providing a perfect respite from the intense African sun during the dry season. Your stay includes lunch, a boxed dinner, and the option for luxury accommodations at Vuma Hills Tented Camp or Mikumi Wildlife Camp (at an additional cost) upon request. Full day Mikumi National Park
Opt for a full-day adventure with game drives around Mikumi National Park, complete with a packed lunch, or choose the option of morning and afternoon game drives with a lunch break at the lodge/tented camp. Mikumi National Park, an integral part of the larger Selous Ecosystem alongside the Selous Game Reserve, boasts an impressive array of bird species and wildlife. Your encounters may include giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, elands, and various other antelopes.
