Arriving in the early afternoon, check in at Zebra Plains Mara Camp, where a hot lunch awaits. Take some time to relax before embarking on an afternoon game viewing adventure in the expansive Masai Mara plains, searching for majestic big cats and witnessing the awe-inspiring Great Wildebeest Migration (subject to traveling dates).

Keep your eyes peeled for other magnificent creatures such as herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, and more. As the day unfolds, return to the camp in the late afternoon for a delicious dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2

Full Day Masai Mara Game Reserve Safari

Start your day with a fulfilling breakfast at the camp, commencing the adventure with an early morning game drive as early as 6:30 am. This opportune time increases the likelihood of encountering the elusive cat family navigating the roads while evading the morning mist. The renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve boasts a diverse array of wildlife, including herds of buffalo, zebra, giraffe, warthog, topi, hartebeest, and more. Keep a keen eye out for the rich predator population, such as lions, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and the enigmatic leopard, for which the Masai Mara is famed.

The Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem stands as one of the world’s oldest ecosystems. It serves as the starting point for the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration, with the wildebeests crossing the Mara River from mid-July to September before returning to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania in October. While observing the Mara River crossing is a possibility during this period, it’s important to note that the exact crossing days are somewhat unpredictable.

Even in the absence of the Great Wildebeest Migration, the Masai Mara Game Reserve remains a captivating destination teeming with diverse wildlife. After an eventful morning, break for lunch and some relaxation before embarking on a sunset game drive. As the late afternoon unfolds, return to the camp for dinner, followed by a campfire experience and an overnight stay.

Meal Plan: Delight in a menu that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Beyond the extensive game viewing opportunities in the vast plains of the Masai Mara, consider optional activities at an additional cost, such as a walking safari or a visit to a Masai village, where you can engage with this indigenous tribe and share in their life experiences. For a truly unique perspective, indulge in a hot air balloon safari over the expansive Masai Mara plains.

Day 3

Masai Mara – Serengeti National Park

Embark on a thrilling journey after breakfast as you depart for Serengeti National Park, indulging in en-route game viewing all the way to the Isebania border. Here, in adherence to new regulations, you will switch to a Tanzanian registered safari vehicle accompanied by a safari guide from the Tanzanian side.

The scenic drive continues through Nyamongo mining villages and Mugumu township, leading you towards the majestic Serengeti National Park. Enter the park through either Fort Ikoma Ranger post or Ikoma Gate, depending on the location of your camp within the Serengeti. Embark on an en-route game drive towards central Serengeti, seeking the mesmerizing Great Wildebeest Migration (if present on this side), as well as the iconic big cats and other diverse wildlife.

In the late afternoon, proceed to Kisura Tented Camp in central Serengeti, where a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay await.

Begin your descent of 600 meters into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for a captivating game viewing experience. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, the Ngorongoro Crater was formed around 3 million years ago, creating a larger Caldera with walls over 600 meters high, often mistakenly referred to as a crater.

This picturesque Caldera is also renowned for its concentration of predators, boasting lion prides, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and the ever-elusive leopard, which may require keen eyes or binoculars to spot. Later in the day, journey to Lake Magadi, a shallow yet expansive alkaline lake located at the southwest corner of the Crater. The lake is frequented by hippos and various aquatic birds, including vibrant flamingos.

In the afternoon, ascend the Crater rim and drive to Arusha town, concluding your day’s adventure at Ilboru Safari Lodge for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay.
