Commence your Materuni Waterfalls day tour after a hearty breakfast, where your driver will meet you for an approximately 3-hour drive to this enchanting village. Packed with lunch boxes, the journey takes you to a village boasting an impressive waterfall, one of the tallest in the region, releasing crystal clear glacier water cascading 70 meters into its basin.
Embark on a captivating path situated 2500 meters above sea level, meandering through valleys and hills adorned with tropical rainforests, coffee, banana, and avocado “shambas” (farms). On clear days, treat yourself to breathtaking views of Kibo and Moshi. The hike to the Waterfall’s base may be challenging, and we recommend wearing hiking boots. A picnic lunch awaits at the bottom before returning to Materuni village, the starting point of the trek.
Hiking boots and a pole are highly recommended, and if a pole is not available, your guide will craft one from locally sourced tree branches.
