Day 1

Nairobi/Sirimon/Judmier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 3-4 hrs., 9km, 860m ascent

Departure from your Nairobi hotel or residence will be at 7 am, heading towards Nanyuki town for a lunch stop, approximately a 4-hour drive. Following lunch, the journey continues to the Sirimon Gate, a one-hour drive away, situated at an altitude of 2440 meters. From the gate, follow the trail as it ascends through the forest, transitioning into heathland after approximately 3 hours.

About 3½ hours from the gate, the trail takes a right turn leading to Judmier Camp at an elevation of 3300 meters. Here, you’ll enjoy a hearty dinner and spend the night, surrounded by the natural beauty of the landscape. This leg of the journey includes lunch (L), dinner (D), and overnight accommodation (L D).

Day 2

Judmier Camp/Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 14km, 900m ascent

Following breakfast, ascend along the trail, taking the left fork at the junction. Approximately one hour from Old Moses Camp, the trail crosses Ontulili River. Turn right, contouring through the Moorland, and cross Liki North before continuing the uphill journey to Mackinders Valley. This vantage point offers panoramic views up the valley towards the main peak.

Dinner and overnight accommodations await you at Shipton Camp, nestled at an altitude of 4200 meters. This leg of the journey includes breakfast (B), lunch (L), and dinner (D), providing you with a comfortable and satisfying experience in the midst of the stunning mountain scenery.

Day 3

Shipton Camp/Point Lenana/Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 9-10hrs, 21k

Embark on an early morning departure at 3 am, ascending a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff, revealing glimpses of the lower Hall Tarns. This challenging ascent takes about 3 hours, culminating at Point Lenana around 6:30 am, just in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise. After enjoying the sunrise spectacle, commence the descent to Shipton Camp, a 2-hour journey, where a hearty breakfast awaits.

Following breakfast, continue the descent for an additional 4 hours to reach Old Moses Camp. This downhill trek provides stunning views and a chance to relish the natural beauty of the surroundings. Arriving at Old Moses Camp, you’ll be treated to a well-deserved dinner and can settle in for an overnight stay. This part of the journey includes breakfast (B), lunch (L), and dinner (D), ensuring a fulfilling experience from sunrise to the peaceful night at Old Moses Camp.

Day 4

Judmaier Camp/Sirimon/Nairobi 2-3hrs, 9km

Following breakfast, embark on a leisurely walk descending through the lush rainforest, a journey that takes approximately 2 hours. This scenic descent brings you to the point where you’ll connect with your transport vehicle back to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be conveniently dropped off at your hotel, concluding your memorable Mt Kenya climbing expedition.

Mount Kenya Climbing Rates per Person:
